Shocking second killer paedophile is shot useless on the street simply hours after he was free of jail

Disturbing CCTV has caught the moment a killer paedophile was hunted down by two masked men and shot dead in the street less than 24 hours after he was released from prison.

Joao Ferreira da Silva, 46, had been serving a 42-year sentence for the rape and murder of nine-year-old Bruno Aparecido dos Santos.

But within hours of freedom, Ferreira da Silva was slain in broad daylight in the city of Sinop, in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, on December 10.

The convict had left the Osvaldo Ferreira Leite Penitentiary after a release order was issued by the courts.

Footage of the incident shows the killer emerging from a guesthouse wearing a white T-shirt, jeans and flip flops.

Within seconds, a man wearing a black baseball cap, dark jumper and jeans approaches him from behind and points a gun towards him.

Ferreira da Silva turns to look at him and puts his hands up to his head after he is shoved in the back by his assailant.

A second armed man, who is similarly clothed and wearing a mask over his face, heads towards the building to keep other members of the public away from the scene.

Investigators believe Ferreira da Silva lured Bruno to a house under construction before raping and killing him in October 2005

Ferreira da Silva walks off with the gunman before several shots are then fired.

He reportedly collapsed on the pavement and died at the scene, as his attackers fled.

Three spent bullet casings were found at the scene.

The Homicide and Personal Protection Police Unit in Sinop said it was investigating to identify the attackers and establish the motive for the killing.

Investigators were also examining whether the shooting was linked to his recent release from prison.

Ferreira da Silva had been convicted over the death of Bruno, which took place on October 28, 2005, with investigators believing he lured the boy to a house under construction.

He initially confessed to assaulting, raping and killing the child and burying the body near the site, with Bruno’s family reporting him missing after he failed to return home, prompting searches across the city.

Ferreira da Silva was arrested 10 days later after trying to attack another child.

Police then found evidence at the construction site where he worked that linked him to Bruno, including marbles said to have belonged to the boy.

Despite his initial confession, he later told a court he did not remember whether he was responsible.

Bruno’s mother, Josiana Aparecida da Silva, said she felt both pain and relief after learning of Ferreira da Silva’s death.

She said: ‘I am happy, not because of my son – my son is dead, he cannot come back – but I am happy that he won’t kill anyone else.

‘No more children will die because of him.’

She added in an interview with a local TV station that ‘justice has been done, but for me it took too long,’ Metro reported.

‘I had the courage to go and see the man who killed my son when he was tried but I regretted it because I was filled with hatred and wanted to kill him.

‘I thought I wouldn’t have the courage to kill him, but today, seeing him dead, I know that if I had had the opportunity to kill him, I would have done so, as a mother.’
