Rob Reiner‘s son Nick was booked by the LA County Sheriff’s Office on Monday after an unidentified family member was questioned in connection with the murders of the director and his wife, Michele Singer.
According to a police source who spoke to the Associated Press, investigators believe the couple suffered brutal stab wounds and were found with their throats slit. Nick Reiner is currently being held in custody on $4m bail.
President Donald Trump claimed the murders of were the result of what he called ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’ in a post on Truth Social on Monday.
Trump said that Reiner, a ‘once very talented movie director and comedy star,’ had passed away ‘reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease’ known as TDS – or Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Reiner and Singer’s daughter, Romy, who lives just across the street, is said to have made the harrowing discovery of her murdered parents when she arrived at their sprawling six-bedroom estate.
Romy, 28, has two brothers: Nick, 32, a screenwriter who has struggled with drug addiction and bouts of homelessness, and Jake, 34, who is a news reporter in Houston, Texas.
The 78-year-old made many of the best-known movies of the 1980s and 1990s, including Stand By Me and The Princess Bride in 1987, legal thriller A Few Good Men in 1992, and romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally in 1989.
