Who is Rob Reiner? The world-famous director, his spouse Michele and their three youngsters after double homicide at household house

World-renowned director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer were found dead inside their Los Angeles home on Sunday in what police are investigating as a homicide.

Law enforcement sources have said the couple’s bodies were discovered with what appeared to be knife wounds.

Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department Robbery Homicide division are on the case, and LAPD detectives reportedly told ABC7 said the deaths were being investigated as a homicide as a large number of officers were at the home on Sunday evening.

Reiner, 78, gained international fame for the critically-acclaimed films he has directed over the years – including The Sure Thing in 1985, The Princess Bride in 1987, When Harry Met Sally in 1989, American President in 1995 and A Few Good Men in 1992, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture.

Over the course of his career, Reiner earned four nominations for Golden Globe for Best Director and three Directors Guild of America Awards.

But Reiner actually got his start as an actor, earning national prominence with the role of Mike ‘Meathead’ Stivic in the CBS comedy All in the Family, for which he earned two Primetime Emmy Awards.

He also acted in films such as Sleepless in Seattle, the First Wives Club and the Wolf of Wall Street.

In more recent years, Reiner has become an activist for liberal causes.

Reiner was born in the Bronx to Estelle and noted writer, director and comedian Carl Reiner.

His acting career started off at the Bucks County Playhouse in Pennsylvania, before he got some small roles on shows like The Andy Griffith Show and Batman in the late 1960s.

At around the same time, Reiner began his writing career alongside Steve Martin on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.

It was just two years later that Reiner became nationally-known for playing Michael Stivic, Archie Bunker’s liberal son-in-law on All in the Family, which was the most watched television program from 1971 through 1976.

For his work on the show, Reiner won two Emmy Awards and five Golden Globe nominations.
