Claire Sweeney turned heads as she attended the premiere of Corriedale at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford on Tuesday.

The soap star, 54, is set to appear in the highly anticipated crossover episode between Emmerdale and Coronation Street

Stepping out for the event, the Cassie Plummer actress looked effortlessly chic in an all-black ensemble.

Her stylish look featured a tweed jacket with fur-trimmed cuffs, paired with a black midi dress adorned with gold buttons running down the centre.

She completed the outfit with black tights and elevated her frame with a pair of black heels.

Claire was joined on the red carpet by James Cartwright, who plays Theo Silverton in the ITV soap.

The pair appeared in high spirits as they posed for snaps together.

The special hour-long Corriedale installment will air at 8pm on January 5 – and unlike usual, it will not be dropped on ITVX earlier in the day.

Regular half hour episodes of each soap will be shown earlier, Emmerdale 7pm and Coronation Street 7.30pm – and these will drop on ITVX at 7am that morning.

New Coronation Street characters confirmed for the drama include Kit, Carla and Asha, as well as James Bailey (Jason Callender).

As for Emmerdale, their new additions include Cain, Charity, Robert, Jacob and Joe, as well as Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill).

They all join the previously announced David Platt, Aaron Dingle, Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) and Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford).

The special episode is a celebration of the soap genre and will launch ITV’s new ‘soap power hour’ scheduling pattern for Coronation Street and Emmerdale.

It comes following fans first being treated to an explosive Corriedale trailer earlier this month.

At the time Corriedale was first announced, ITV said: ‘The distinctive worlds of Emmerdale and Coronation Street will merge for one night only in a ‘mash-up’ of our two favourite communities.

‘The producers, scriptwriters and production teams have conceived an ingenious way of linking the two universes, but with characters then returning to the soaps they are renowned for inhabiting in Manchester and Yorkshire.

‘The episode will be self-contained, but the consequences of the high-stakes drama will have repercussions for both communities and see them linked forever as familiar faces depart and exciting new characters arrive into both soaps.’

Iain MacLeod, ITV Executive Producer for Continuing Drama, said at the time: “It’s beyond exciting that filming is underway on Corriedale.

‘There is a massive buzz around both the Leeds and Manchester sites, and the images coming out of the shoot are utterly spectacular.

‘And that’s before we’ve even got to all the brilliant transpennine interactions between characters from the different shows!

‘As a soap fan myself, I think my head is going to explode when the episode airs next year.

‘It will be mind-blowing, historical and unmissable.’

Filming for special started back in October.
