Travel professional reveals the perfect three cities for a winter vacation below £200

Travel at this time of year can be exorbitant, with many heading to popular winter destinations – such as Lapland – to enjoy the snow and festive season.

But if you’re looking for a cheap way to travel, an expert has revealed the best three cities for a winter holiday under £200.

Travel blogger @emsbudgettravel posted a video to her 105,000 followers, sharing her thoughts on the best places to visit at this time of year.

In the clip, she said: ‘These are my three favourite city breaks for an affordable winter holiday.

‘My first recommendation is a little off the beaten track, but it’s one of my favourite cities I’ve visited this year – and it’s perfect on a budget.’

Yerevan, Armenia is a highly underrated destination – and if you combine it with an overnight stopover in a city such as Rome, you could get even cheaper flights, Em advises.

She managed to find central accommodation for just £12 per person per night – and metro rides cost as little as 20p per journey.

She added: ‘It’s also surrounded by beautiful mountains and scenery, and it’s very cheap to take a day trip into the countryside, which will most likely be snowy.’

Yerevan in Armenia is the first recommended destination on Em’s list

Beautiful colorful houses and the old Town Hall in Poznan, Poland

The second spot is Poznan, Poland, which has a pretty old town and a vibrant food scene filled with delicious, budget-friendly options.

Em says: ‘There’s loads to do on a budget, like the Palm House or an amazing spa in the country’ – here, a three-hour pass costs only £16.

‘I thought this was such an underrated city,’ Em revealed, saying it’s just as good as its more popular counterparts.

‘My final recommendation is in the Baltic region of Europe,’ she adds, saying: ‘I’ve also seen some really affordable flights here recently.’

She said it’s one of the most picturesque cities she’s ever visited, and accommodation is affordable too.

The final spot? Tallinn in Estonia.

Em says it was £21 per person for an Airbnb in the heart of the old town.

There’s also a beautiful Christmas market if you visit during the festive season.

Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, is also a highly recommended winter destination

Fans took to the comments to share their thoughts on the video, which gained an impressive 53,000 likes.

One wrote: ‘Poznań is beautiful! So much good food and the people are so friendly.’

Another added: ‘Adding Yerevan in my bucket list for next year.’

A third chimed in: ‘Going to Tallinn for my birthday in just over a week and will be there for the Christmas markets – can’t wait.’
