Davina McCall has revealed how wearing sexy lingerie helped boost her mood after brain surgery and a breast cancer diagnosis over a 12 month period ‘knocked her for six’.

The presenter, 58, said dressing up was important to her mental state when she underwent brain surgery for a benign tumour in November 2024.

In a new interview, Davina, who was also diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer earlier this year, revealed how her mother even questioned what she was going to wear in hospital, because she knew how much the TV star loves ‘sexy’ nightwear.

‘I always say go out and buy yourself some new underwear, you can tell what mood I am in by the underwear I am wearing. If I don’t like myself it is off-white, seamless comfortable underwear,’ Davina told The Mirror

‘Before my operation [brain surgery in November 2024] my mum [Gaby] laughed at me, because I love wearing sexy clothes or sexy dressing gowns.

‘She asked what nighties I had for hospital. I put one on and went with White Company pyjamas, but they were shorties. She was like “don’t be flashing your brain surgeon”.

Davina urged people not to be ’embarrassed’ to be seen and to not give into shying away.

She added her husband Michael Douglas actively encourages her to stand out from the crowd by wearing pink boots as ‘while it might be so far out of your comfort zone, someone will go “wow”.’

Davina tied the knot with the celebrity hairdresser, 49, in an intimate London ceremony, just two months after their surprise Ibiza engagement.

The presenter married her devoted partner after he supported her through surgery to remove a benign tumour from her brain and a recent breast cancer diagnosis, and friends claimed it was her recent health woes that prompted them to marry now.

She and Michael were supported by their loved ones at the wedding, with Davina’s daughter Tilly, 21, sharing a video on TikTok ahead of the ceremony.

Davina announced in November 2024 that she had been diagnosed with a colloid cyst, a rare type of brain tumour.

She bravely endured a gruelling six-hour operation to remove the 14mm cyst.

Almost exactly a year later, however, on November 8, she revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer six weeks before and had undergone successful surgery after discovering a lump in her breast while on the set of The Masked Singer.

Davina previously explained how the disease had been caught ‘very very early’ but would still require radiotherapy.

In the candid clip, the star said she was opening up in a bid to help others, just like she did when doctors operated on her rare benign brain tumour in November 2024.

She recalled first discovering the lump while on the set of the ITV singing show, before a sign in the toilets at the Lorraine studios encouraged her to get checked.

Davina said: ‘I just wanted to tell you I have had breast cancer, I found a lump a few weeks ago and it came and went.

‘But then when I was filming The Masked Singer, the show Lorraine put signs on the back of their toilet doors saying “check your breasts” and every time I went for a wee I did that, and it was still there.

‘So I underwent a biopsy and it was indeed breast cancer and I had it taken out in a lumpectomy nearly three weeks ago.’

Davina went on to discuss the results of her surgery and how doctors had now given her the all clear.
