An emotional Alex Carey paid a heartfelt tribute to his late father as he secured his first-ever Ashes Test century.
Roars engulfed the Adelaide Oval as their hometown hero swiped Ben Stokes through the covers, getting back for three runs to secure what is his third century in Test cricket.
It comes after his father, Gordon, heartbreakingly passed away in September, following a battle with cancer.
Carey raised his bat to the fans inside the Adelaide Oval, before pausing for a moment and looking up to the sky in tribute to his dad.
Channel 7’s television cameras then panned to his wife, Eloise, in the crowd, who was seen wiping tears away from her eyes, proud of her husband’s incredible achievement.
