Vladimir Putin has reportedly claimed that Russia’s military objectives “will certainly be achieved” – amid growing fears of World War Three. Mad Vlad also boasted that Russia’s nuclear arsenal is the most advanced on the planet as he talked up the possibility of an attack from the West.

Putin’s comments come amid rising geopolitical tensions, which led the UK’s Chief of the Defence staff Sir Richard Knighton to say Brits “will all have a role to play” in the event of an attack from Russia, and that “more families will know what sacrifice for our nation means”.

Speaking at an expanded meeting of the Russian Defense Ministry Board, Putin said Russia was closing in on its objectives in Ukraine, and spoke about the country’s growing military might as he suggested NATO countries were building up their own firepower.

The objectives of our special military operation will certainly be achieved,” Putin said, according to Sputnik International.

He went on to claim that Russia had ‘liberated’ 300 towns and cities on the front line, saying: “This year, more than 300 settlements have already been liberated, including large cities that the enemy turned into fortified hubs with long-term fortifications.”

While Putin was referring specifically to Ukraine in this context, he chillingly went on to slam European leaders and boast of Russia’s nuclear threat to the West.

“Work on strengthening the armed forces has been ongoing in recent years. I am referring to the improvement of their combat strength, qualitative improvements in the military command system, in operational and combat training,” Putin said.

He then referred to Russia’s nuclear-armed Burevestnik and Poseidon missile systems, saying: “The Burevestnik unlimited-range strategic cruise missile and the Poseidon unmanned underwater vehicle have been successfully tested… We will continue to work on them. We will continue to refine and improve them.”

Putin added that the Oreshnik medium-range missile system “will also be placed on combat duty by the end of the year”.

Putin then appeared that Russia was under increasing threat from the West, saying: “Of course, improving strategic nuclear forces is a priority for us. As before, they will play a key role in deterring an aggressor and maintaining the balance of power in the world.”

He added: “Today, we see that the geopolitical situation in the world remains tense, and in some regions, it is even becoming critical. NATO countries are actively building up and modernizing their offensive forces, creating and deploying new types of weapons, including in outer space.

“Large-scale military assistance is being provided continuously [to Ukraine]. Advisers, instructors and mercenaries are being sent, and intelligence data are being supplied.

“Various political figures [in Europe], who supposedly held or still hold high-ranking positions, seem to have simply forgotten about their responsibilities. They are guided by fleeting personal or group political interests, but not by the interests of their nations.”

Perhaps most terrifyingly, Putin claimed that Russia’s nuclear deterrent is the most advanced of any recognised nuclear power, saying: “Our nuclear shield is more modern than the nuclear component of any official nuclear power… 92% of our nuclear forces are modern, well, there is no such thing in any country.”
