  • A 78-year-old pensioner sustained severe injuries and died after being struck by a van in the Asda car park on Greenfield Lane, Shaw, Oldham, at approximately 6:50 pm on Wednesday, December 18.
  • The victim was hit by the driver of a Peugeot Expert, which was heading toward the car park exit, while she was returning to her vehicle.
  • Numerous police vehicles and ambulances were spotted at the car park on Thursday evening, with a large area cordoned off.
  • Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) launched a full investigation into the incident. The driver of the van has been arrested by police in connection with the collision.
  • Officers are appealing for anyone with information, including witnesses or those with relevant dashcam footage.
