YouTuber-turned-professional boxer Jake Paul departed the ring on Saturday nursing a double broken jaw following six gruelling rounds against two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

However, the American might have encountered an entirely different adversary after a leading darts player boldly declared he could knock Paul out with a single blow. Welsh sensation Gerwyn Price, well-versed in on-stage confrontations, expressed his readiness to don boxing gloves following a heated exchange between the duo.

When questioned about the possibility of stepping into the ring with the 28-year-old former Disney Channel star, Price confidently told talkSPORT: “That’s easy, I look forward to that. He’s a YouTuber, he’s not a fighter, is he? I think it would just be one punch, and it would be all over. Out cold.

“It would be a waste of money for people to tune in. He’ll never beat me in Wales. Nobody beats me in Wales. He’d probably beat Canelo but he’s not beating me, no.”

Paul, who reportedly pocketed approximately £70m from his lucrative showdown with Joshua, swiftly fired back through direct message, challenging ‘The Iceman’ to name his price for a potential ring encounter.

“He’s seen it and messaged me,” the 40-year-old later revealed. “He wrote back to me and said, ‘Come to Greece, man. Just name a price.’ I don’t know why he’s in Greece.”

When pressed about whether he had replied to Paul’s proposal, Price quipped: “I was a bit scared. No, I need to get some training in.”

Price – a former professional rugby player in his native Wales – has trained in the ring before. The Caerphilly resident was set to participate in a charity boxing bout in 2022 but withdrew following medical guidance.

His unlikely foe Paul managed to surprise many in Miami by surviving almost six of the scheduled eight rounds against former Olympic champion Joshua, who holds 29 professional victories including triumphs over Wladimir Klitschko and Dillian Whyte.

Nevertheless, the bout was ultimately halted after Paul couldn’t recover from the count following successive knockdowns. The social media star had several teeth extracted and two titanium plates fitted into his jaw.

While Paul was recuperating from his operation, former world champion Price endured his own humbling defeat against underdog Wesley Plaisier. Despite recording a superior average, the world number nine suffered a comprehensive 3-0 whitewash in his PDC World Darts Championship second round encounter.

Following the match, Price graciously took to Instagram to commend his adversary and extend his best wishes for the remainder of the competition. He posted: “Absolutely gutted there had so much support which was amazing.
