New weather charts for the UK predict another ‘Beast from the East’ sweeping across the nation in the coming days, with 24 counties expected to be affected.

According to recent weather charts, a band of snow is forecasted to descend upon the UK in the next few days. This 600-mile-long wall of snow showers and chilly air is predicted to soon make its way into the UK, reports the Mirror.

However, it is not expected to arrive in time for the big day and give us all a White Christmas. Instead, it’s anticipated to strike after the main event, potentially heralding a snowy start to the new year.

Charts released by WXCharts on December 21 indicate a successor to the ‘Beast from the East’ forming. Dubbed ‘Too Beast Too East’, it consists of freezing air from continental Europe moving west across the North Sea.

This is expected to bring snow to large areas of the UK along the North Sea. It’s likely to primarily affect the northern and eastern regions of the country, though it could extend into central areas.

The arctic blast is expected to strike on New Year’s Day, with temperatures in Scotland and Newcastle potentially plummeting to -5C. Other regions such as Birmingham will hover around -2C, whilst London and Southern England will also dip below freezing to -2C.

At midday on January 1, Stoke-on-Trent, Devon, and Cornwall are forecast to be the mildest locations in England, alongside the southwest Welsh coast and Northern Ireland’s coastline.

On average, snowfall is anticipated to reach depths of approximately 2-6cm. Certain areas across northern England and Scotland may experience accumulations of roughly 8-14cm.

The Met Office outlook for December 25 through to January 3 states: “Continued mostly settled conditions expected, as high pressure builds to the north of the UK. This will bring a strengthening easterly then northeasterly wind over the period, with wind-chill making it feel colder.

“Whilst there will be a fair amount of dry weather, a few showers will still be possible, particularly across eastern and southern parts which may be wintry in places, more especially over high ground. High pressure will likely dominate the weather in the run up to the New Year, slowly drifting to the west

“This will maintain largely settled conditions, although with an increasing chance of showery conditions later in the period. Temperatures will be below average much of the time, with frost likely where clear skies and light winds prevail.”
