Putin’s luxurious home has been the subject of an alleged Ukrainian attack as Kyiv strikes back

One of Russia’s top diplomats has said that Ukraine has deliberately targeted Mad Vlad Putin’s home. According to sources, the strike posed a real threat to the president, but was eventually foiled by Russian forces.

As the West continues to finalise a draft 20-point plan with Kyiv about the future of Ukraine, Russia seemingly shows no sign of letting up its brutal war. Drone strikes have continued to slam into targets across major cities such as Kyiv and Odesa.

Now, one of Putin’s top cronies has revealed that Ukraine has tried to deliberately come after Putin himself in their latest twisted move. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has signalled major progress to stop the fighting.

According to the Daily Mail, Russia ‘s foreign minister Sergey Lavrov reported on Monday (December 29) that Ukraine had attempted to strike Putin’s home in the Russian town of Valdai. A retreat in the Novgorod region in western Russia, the move came as a major shock to the Kremlin, and as a result they would have to renegotiate its position.

Lavrov is believed to allege that some 91 long-range drones were responsible for the attack, adding that “such reckless actions will not go unanswered”. Ukrainian president Volodomyr Zelenskyy has refuted the claims made by Russia, branding them as “lies”.

Sergey said that all long-range drones that were used in the supposed attack were struck down by Russian air defences. No one was injured in the attack, and there had not been any damage caused to the house or to the local area.

He added that following the alleged attack, the Kremlin had already chosen targets that would be hit in retaliation. Sergey went on to describe Kyiv’s alleged actions as being tantamount to “state terrorism”.

Kyiv, for its part, has slammed the accusations, saying the claims were done as a way to undermine peace talks. They added that Russia is now preparing to strike government buildings in the capital, potentially including the parliament building, the Verkhovna Rada.

Currently, it is not known whether Putin himself was at his home at the time of the alleged attack. Meanwhile, tensions remain high between the Kremlin and Kyiv as the West scrambles to work out a peace deal with Ukraine to bring the war to an end.

As the war approaches its four-year anniversary in February, Trump and Zelenskyy struck a positive tone on the draft 20-point plan in a joint press conference on Sunday (December 28). Trump himself said they were “very close” to reaching a deal, but there were “one or two thorny issues” that still needed to be worked out.

The pair’s comments come after Zelenskyy was welcomed to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida for talks as momentum grows for a peace deal between Europe, the US and Ukraine. Russia, for its part has said it is ready for peace — but only on its terms.

In the meantime, fighting continues on as Putin ordered his army to continue the war. Soldiers are now being tasked with capturing the remaining areas of Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, as Russian forces are reported to be just 9.3 miles away from its biggest city.
