Quality Street has officially unveiled its latest flavour after weeks of keeping quiet. Thousands of people have been making guesses as to what the mysterious flavour could be, and now it has finally been revealed.

As a beloved staple of many British families, Quality Street is well-known for its variety of flavours, despite many being unhappy about the shrinking size of the box. From its iconic Green Triangle to Toffee Pennies, it is one of the most anticipated snacks Brits will tuck into over the festive period.

But those shopping in Waitrose and John Lewis have been left perplexed, after Quality Street appeared to quietly add another flavour to the mix at its pick-and-mix stations.

Bewildered customers have been getting stuck in trying to decipher the flavour, but with no success. According to the Sun, Waitrose and John Lewis offered customers the unique opportunity to make their own tubs full of their favourite flavours.

This included the mysterious new flavour, as well as major favourites including the “Coffee Crème”, which was discontinued several years ago. The new chocolate soon proved to be a hit with customers who raced to find it and add it to their festive treats.

However, many have been perplexed as to what the actual flavour is meant to be, believing its green wrapper would suggest something citrus-like, such as limes or lemons. As well as this, with the rise of Dubai chocolate — famed for its green pistachios — many believed it to be tied to that flavour.

Other, more bizarre guesses were made, including the likes of lemon curd, which was not as popular a suggestion. Now, the confectionary company behind Quality Street, Nestlé, has revealed what the actual flavour really is.

Named “Pineapple Crème”, the sweet is a limited edition sweet, made out of a smooth pineapple cream drenched in chocolate. Speaking on the decision to introduce the surprising flavour into such a classic box, Nestlé’s marketing manager for gifting in the UK, Rachel Mundy said the decision was to keep customers guessing.

She admitted that it was exactly what many did, adding it was a pleasure to see the chaos ensue. “Each year we look forward to bringing a limited edition sweet into the mix to excite and delight Quality Street fans,” she explained.

“But this year we took it a step further by keeping the flavour top secret. It’s been so fun hearing everyone’s guesses, and the team is relieved to finally be able to shout about the mysterious Pineapple Crème.”

After the news was broken about the true flavour of the sweet, many have taken to social media to share in their joy and confusion at the addition. One shocked user penned: “Loved the pineapple, best flavour you’ve done.”

Whilst a second added: “The green wrapper tried to fool my brain to say lime, but I came up with pineapple!” However, despite the majority welcoming the flavour with open arms, other customers were less than thrilled with the new sweet.
