Footy star and his glamorous spouse reveal their New Year’s child pleasure – however maintain one huge secret

Bulldogs star Max King and his wife Christy have shared their joy at the birth of their daughter on New Year’s Eve – but haven’t revealed her name.

Christy King posted a series of photos of the couple, the new arrival and their son Hercules to Instagram with the caption, ‘Hands full, hearts fuller.’

The pictures showed her and Max in hospital and at home with their daughter, but gave their followers no hint about her name.

King’s post was met with messages of congratulations from Kaylah Collins, wife of Roosters star Lindsay, Bulldogs winger Marcelo Montoya’s wife Tayla, and Roosters forward Nat Butcher’s wife Harmony.

Max and Christy announced the pregnancy back in July, just before he played one of the biggest games of his life for the NSW State of Origin side.

‘Here we grow again… Our baby girl coming December,’ Christy posted.

The front-rower and his wife exchanged vows at Curzon Hall in Sydney in October 2023, surrounded by family and friends.

Both devout Christians, they met at a church on the Gold Coast, famously abstained from sex during their engagement as Christians.

‘We are so loud and proud about our faith… it’s never been something we’ve shied away from because it is so important to us,’ Christy previously told 2DayFM’s Hughesy, Ed and Erin radio show.

‘We spoke about it (remaining celibate) early on… on the first or second date.

‘Christian dating 101 is you’re not wasting anyone’s time, it’s a conversation we didn’t shy away from and honestly we’ve seen such fruit from it in our relationship in terms of communication… it’s just so good.’

King also admitted she was initially hesitant about the relationship given her husband’s job.

‘When I met him I was like, ‘oh you’re a footy player, red flag, what have I got myself into,” she said.

‘For sure [his teammates are supportive]… but when we first started dating they were like, ‘as if you guys are’ [abstaining from sex].

‘I feel so blessed to have met Max… we are the puzzle pieces that fit together and it’s all down to God.’

In September, the Kings revealed they’d been living with a mould infestation in their home that left Max seriously ill.

‘I’ve been crook – coughing, flu, phlegm, lethargic, down – and I haven’t been getting better. I’ve been sick for six to seven weeks,’ King said.

‘There were games where I thought I was on my deathbed. Someone suggested mould and when I read into it, I knew that’s what it was.

‘My young fella is a one-year-old and he’s been really crook. My wife, who is six months pregnant, has also been crook. We’ve all been sick as. I didn’t want my young fella getting it.’
