Arsenal fans think they’ve already won the title as Manchester City conceded an embarrassing 90th minute equaliser to managerless Chelsea
Football fans have declared Arsenal have one hand on the title after Manchester CIty dropped more points on Sunday to managerless Chelsea.
Pep Guardiola’s side conceded in the 94th minute after Enzo Fernandez bundled the ball in at the back post to steal one point for the Blues. And the result leaves City six points behind Arsenal in the Premier League table.
And it’s enough of a buffer that some fans think they might be able to end over two decades of hurt and get their hands on the Premier League trophy. One posted: “Just accepted this Arsenal league title for the first time…”
“Enzo Fernandez just gifted Arsenal the title,” a second shared. As a third said: “Yeah Arsenal will win the title, let’s just hope the foundations laid this year will yield success next season…”
“Really don’t like Arsenal, but they deserve the title this season,” a fourth admitted. While a fifth sighed: “Enzo may have just handed Arsenal the Premier League title…”
And another added: “Arsenal’s title now thank you Foden, Haaland and Bernardo for giving it to them!”
Arsenal moved clear at the summit on Saturday evening, as they brushed aside Bournemouth with relative ease.
The Gunners still have to face City again this season, after they rescued a late draw at the Etihad Stadium earlier in the campaign. However, Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards believes the same issue from last season are still there for City.
He said: “It’s the same, not finishing teams off. It’s mad to say they aren’t ruthless. They will be kicking themselves. They know they should have three points.
“They are normally more ruthless. What has changed, what’s the difference? They have themselves to blame.”
City are back in action on Wednesday, with a tricky clash with Brighton. While Arsenal face Liverpool – who also dropped points on Sunday.
