Susan Avalon, 51, has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting both of her ex-husbands in separate attacks on the same day, reportedly luring one to his door
Some grudges run deeper than others… A woman has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting both of her ex-husbands. The alleged separate attacks reportedly took place on the same day.
51-year-old Susan Avalon was named as a person of interest by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Department, located in Bradenton, Florida, USA, on 18 December, following a fatal shooting in Bradenton the previous day. Officers had reportedly been called to the home of a 54-year-old man, who has not been named, after he was shot in the abdomen when answering his door.
The victim reportedly told deputies he believed his ex-wife, Avalon, was responsible.
The pair had been married for 11 years, and detectives say Avalon owed him $4,000 (approximately £3,000) in child support. He was taken to hospital but died later that evening.
Investigators allege Avalon picked up a takeaway from Panera Bread, a popular American chain of bakery-café, to lure her ex-husband to the door, before shooting him, True Crime News reported. Surveillance footage from the restaurant reportedly shows Avalon did not pay for the order, and that it was not in her name.
The victim’s 15-year-old daughter was at home at the time and is said to have heard gunfire and seen a masked person fleeing in a silver Honda Odyssey.
Police traced the vehicle’s number plate to Avalon’s home, where they found her wiping down the car with bleach.
As per True Crime News, when deputies asked to speak to her about her ex-husband, she allegedly replied, “Which one?”
This prompted officers to carry out a welfare check on Avalon’s second ex-husband in Tampa, Hillsborough County, where they discovered the door had been forced open and a man had been shot dead inside.
Detectives now reportedly believe Avalon shot her second ex-husband in Tampa, then collected food from Panera Bread before driving to Bradenton to kill her first ex-husband.
She has been charged with first-degree homicide and prosecutors are reportedly seeking the death penalty.
Avalon is also expected to face further charges in Hillsborough County.
