Police were called to a car crash in Glasgow in the early hours of Sunday morning only to find it involved a Rangers star who had shone in the Old Firm derby against Celtic
Glasgow Rangers defender Dujon Sterling was arrested after a car crash just hours after his side triumphed against Celtic in the Old Firm derby.
Police were alerted to a smash involving one vehicle in West Graham Street, Glasgow at around 1.25am on Sunday, January 4. Rangers right-back Sterling, 26, who was behind the wheel, was arrested and charged with road traffic offences.
The Daily Record reports he is now set to appear at a magistrates’ court. According to the Star’s sister paper, it is not thought the player was injured during the incident.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed: “Around 1.25am on Sunday, January 4, 2026, police received a report of a one-vehicle crash on West Graham Street, Glasgow.
“There were no injuries reported. The driver, a 26-year-old man, was arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences. He’s expected to appear at court at a later date.”
The Gers’ defender was instrumental in his team’s 3-1 win against Celtic at Parkhead, playing all 90 minutes of the heated clash between the bitter rivals.
Hyun-jun Yang’s opener for Celtic was followed by a Youssef Chermiti brace and a late Mikey Moore strike for manager Danny Rohl’s visitors.
And Sterling couldn’t resist a cheeky dig at Celtic boss Wilfried Nancy on social media afterwards.
Nancy was lambasted for a post he made on X last month, which depicted a Venn diagram that alluded to people focusing on both things that they can control, and things that matter.
Sterling saw the chance to troll Nancy with his own image on his Instagram story after Saturday’s clash, as he posted it without comment just hours after full-time.
French boss Nancy has lost six out of eight games at Celtic and the 48-year-old’s future looks uncertain. His team are now trailing Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts by six points.
