Nine school children have been hurt in a collision involving a bus and a coach on a slip road in Berkshire.
The youngsters, who were on a school coach, sustained minor injuries, as did the coach’s driver. Eight adults aboard a bus were also injured during the incident, which occurred on the A3290 slip road leading to the Sutton Seeds Roundabout in Earley around 08:25am.
South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) suggested that one child and one adult may require hospitalisation for further treatment.
A spokesperson for the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) stated they were initially summoned to a vehicle fire on the slip road, only to discover upon arrival that there had been a crash and the bus’s engine was ablaze.
RBFRS, SCAS and Thames Valley Police have urged the public to steer clear of the area due to likely disruptions while emergency services attend to the scene.
SCAS reported that another two-car smash on the same slip road earlier on Wednesday morning resulted in no injuries.
