Ant and Dec‘s Limitless Win contestants missed out on a record-breaking £1.2million after failing to correctly answer their final question on Sunday evening – but can you solve the brainteaser that bested them?

The Geordie duo returned to our screens to host the much-loved ITV show, which saw father-and-daughter duo David and Emma try and get their hands on the cash pot prize.

Towards the end of the instalment, with £75,000 still in the bank, the two played for £1.25million, which presenter Declan Donnelly, 50, told them was the most anyone would have ever won on a British quiz show.

Co-host Ant McPartlin, 50, went on to ask: ‘Including Thomas the Tank Engine, how many children’s picture books were written by the Reverend Awdry in the Railway Series?’

Emma told her dad: ‘No idea.’ She continued: ‘It could be anything!’

David went on to ask her how many tanks there are, to which Emma said: ‘I haven’t seen Thomas the Tank Engine since I was about two!’

Ant and Dec’s Limitless Win contestants missed out on a record-breaking £1.2million after slipping up over their final question on Sunday evening – but can YOU solve it?

The latest episode of the show saw father-and-daughter duo David and Emma try and get their hands on the cash pot prize

Co-host Ant went on to ask: ‘Including Thomas the Tank Engine, how many children’s picture books were written by the Reverend Awdry in the Railway Series?’

Ant joked: ‘Don’t you remember?!’

David went on to say: ‘You know it’s going to be at least 10.’

Emma took her dad’s hand and said: ‘I love you…’

Den chimed in: ‘I feel there is a “but”…

‘But I really think we should [gestured to leave],’ Emma replied to her dad.

‘We could put in 10 and it could be 30!’

David agreed and told her: ‘It’s too big of a risk.’

The two decided to walk away with their banked £75,000.

Emma’s dad David wanted to take a risk, but his daughter Emma wasn’t keen on losing the money that they had already banked

Dec was interested to know what answer they would have put forward and David confessed he would have gone for 15 if he was ‘going to risk it’.

The answer to the question is 26 books.

Limitless Win first hit our screens back in 2022 and there have been 24 episodes across five series.

Fans were over the moon to find out back in March 2025 that Limitless Win had been given two more series and Christmas specials.

Ant said at the time: ‘We’re really pleased that Limitless Win is coming back for another two series and some Christmas specials.

‘People stop us all the time saying how much they love the show and play along with their family. It’s exciting it’s such a hit with viewers.’

Dec added: ‘We’d love go further up the ladder than we’ve ever been.

‘We want the contestants to go as high as possible!

‘That’s the magic of Limitless Win, you never know, you might just know the exact answer to the question!’

Director of Entertainment & Daytime Commissioning ITV, Katie Rawcliffe, said at the time: ‘We’re absolutely delighted to be bringing back Ant & Dec’s Limitless Win for a further two series.

‘The show has established itself as a firm favourite amongst audiences and a staple in the ITV entertainment calendar.

‘With Ant & Dec at the helm, it will no doubt continue to deliver more nail-biting drama, jeopardy and excitement this time around as a new set of contestants prepare to climb their way to a fortune.’

Ant and Dec’s Limitless Win airs on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
