A former flame of Prince Harry has been arrested on suspicion of leaving a Majorca hotel without settling a bill of nearly £450. Catherine Ommanney, 53, a reality TV star, was detained yesterday afternoon on allegations of fraud after the hotel manager reported her to the police in the morning.

She is accused of departing from the three-star Playas del Rey Hotel in the popular resort of Santa Ponsa near Magaluf without paying a bill exceeding €500 (£434) for a nine-day stay. The arrest has been confirmed by police sources.

Ommanney, who claims she had a passionate affair with Harry when he was 21 and she was 34, appeared before a judge yesterday evening in Palma, the capital of Majorca. She was released on bail pending an ongoing investigation.

The island newspaper Ultima Hora reported overnight that Ommanney, an interior designer and one of the original main cast members of the first season of Real Housewives of DC, had booked her hotel stay using a card “with no funds” on it.

It remains unclear this morning whether she testified in court or offered any explanation for the incident. She was photographed leaving a court cell, escorted by a Civil Guard officer, around 7pm yesterday to attend the hearing held behind closed doors.

She made no comment following her release from custody and it’s not yet clear where she was arrested. In November 2022, Catherine revealed details about the two-month fling she alleges she had with Harry in 2006 after meeting him in a bar.

She opened up to the Sun on Sunday, deciding to share her story as she didn’t believe their brief romance would be included in his memoir Spare.

She revealed: “It was clear he wasn’t a virgin when we met. He was 21 and he was very sure of himself. He was a great kisser and obviously knew what he was doing.”

“He lifted me off the floor in a way that no man has ever done to me before or since – and Harry knew how to treat a woman. He was very giving, very passionate, lovely and a total gentleman.

Catherine, a mother of three, claimed she had affectionately dubbed Harry ‘baby’ due to his penchant for sucking on lollipops. She said: “I do believe he enjoyed my company because I’m a little bit older and wiser and not like the 20 year olds or whatever he had been hanging out with.

“I had the patience to listen to what he said and give him some advice on life.

“Harry was surrounded by young women that would throw themselves at him and I think he was searching for something deeper and more meaningful with someone wiser.

“That’s maybe why he found me attractive. I didn’t realise what the age gap was because it wasn’t important to me.”

At the time she disclosed their affair, she was reportedly living in Majorca.

According to Catherine, the relationship gradually lost its spark after they met a few times, although she mentioned they were “friendly” when they crossed paths again in 2009 at a polo match.

A spokesman for the Civil Guard confirmed this morning: “A 53-year-old British woman was arrested yesterday on suspicion of fraud after the representative of a hotel in Santa Ponsa reported her for allegedly leaving the establishment without paying her hotel bill.”She and her lawyer have both been approached for a comment. Catherine’s lawyer said this morning she had not read the press reports about her client’s arrest and would not be commenting without her authorisation.

A receptionist at Playas del Rey Hotel in Santa Ponsa said this morning the manager was off for the day and no-one else was available to speak to the press.

Court officials could not be reached early this morning for a comment.
