John Harbaugh is finalizing deal to change into Giants head coach after only one face-to-face interview

The New York Giants are reportedly finalizing a deal with John Harbaugh to make him the franchise’s 23rd official head coach.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter was among the first to report the news. The Daily Mail has reached out to a Giants spokesperson for confirmation.

Harbaugh, who was recently fired after 18 years coaching the Baltimore Ravens, was expected to speak with multiple other teams about their respective vacancies, but now appears ready to take over at the Giants’ facility in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The Giants are coming off a 4-13 season that cost coach Brian Daboll his job 10 weeks into he season. He was replaced on an interim bases by offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, who went just 2-5.

The big draw for the Giants job may be quarterback Jaxson Dart, a first-round pick out of Ole Miss, who had a solid rookie season for Big Blue in 2025.

Reports indicate that the progress toward a hire for Harbaugh progressed rapidly after the Giants gave him the ultimate treatment to win him over, according to The Athletic’s Ian O’Connor.

Harbaugh was flown in on the private jet of part-owner Steve Tisch – which received plenty of flight-tracking attention from media and fans, O’Connor reports.

After meetings with Tisch, majority owner John Mara and general manager Joe Schoen, Harbaugh was treated to dinner at a local restaurant, O’Connor says.

He then took a tour of the team’s practice facility in East Rutherford – where reports say he met with Dart. O’Connor reports that Harbaugh told at least one person that there’s ‘a lot to be excited about’ when it comes to the Ole Miss product.

Harbaugh finally boarded his flight to leave the Tri-State Area around 7:30pm – which appears to be later than expected.

The 63-year-old had an interview scheduled at his Baltimore area home with the Tennessee Titans, according to NFL insider Dianna Russini. It is unclear if that meeting is still scheduled.
