Pub groups Mitchells & Butlers and Fuller’s have shrugged off cost-of-living fears to cheer strong Christmas trading.

All Bar One and Toby Carvery owner M&B had an ‘exceptionally strong’ festive period with record sales on Christmas Day.

In the three weeks from December 14 to January 3, sales were 7.7 per cent higher than a year earlier, driven by 10.5 per cent growth over Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Fuller’s also hailed ‘outstanding’ trade, with sales up 8.2 per cent over the past five weeks.
