Police have cordoned off the Esso petrol station on Stockton Road, Seaham where a man was killed after being hit by a car on the forecourt – police say three men have been arrested
Seaham: Police forensics on scene at petrol station
A murder investigation has been launched after a man died after being hit by a car on a petrol station forecourt. The Asda Express garage on Stockton Road in Seaham has been swarming with emergency services since yesterday (January 15).
A substantial cordon has been established around the Esso petrol station, which houses the Asda Express garage. An additional cordon surrounds the beer garden of a neighbouring pub, The Mallard. Images from the scene reveal that the window of the Asda Express has been shattered in the incident, reports Chronicle Live.
A spokesperson for Durham police said: “A vehicle is believed to have collided with a pedestrian on the New Seaham Service Station forecourt, where a man in his 20s sustained serious injuries. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A murder investigation is now underway, and three people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
“The section of the B1285 between the Mallard pub and the petrol station is likely to remain closed for some time while inquiries are carried out.
“Anybody with any information relating to the incident, or who has CCTV or dashcam footage in the area around the same time, is asked to contact Durham Police via 101, quoting incident number 281 of January 15.”
