Police investigating a broad-daylight sexual assault of a woman have released CCTV of man they want to speak to. The attack is alleged to have taken place at 2pm on Saturday, December 20 in St Ann’s, Nottinghamshire.

Nottinghamshire Police believe the man in the image will be able to help with their investigation as they appealed to the public for information.

Sergeant Adam Green, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was understandably an upsetting incident for the female victim and we are determined to get to the bottom of what happened.

“We have reviewed CCTV footage and are now asking for the public’s help to identify the person in this image, who we believe can aid us in the investigation.

“If you recognise the man pictured or think you can help, please call 101 quoting crime reference 25*747831, or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

It comes as police are probing an attempted abduction following reports of a woman being ‘grabbed and threatened’ by an unidentified man in Wigan last Friday (January 9).

The alleged victim was walking along Central Park Way in Wigan when she was accosted by the unknown assailant who then ‘attempted to force her to accompany him’, according to Greater Manchester Police. The incident allegedly occurred between 6.05 and 6.20am.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6ft 1in tall, dressed in grey jogging bottoms, black trainers, a yellow hi-vis vest and a black beanie hat. The victim managed to escape his grasp and find safety before the suspect fled the scene.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department at Greater Manchester Police are now appealing for information and witnesses. Specialist officers are providing support to the victim.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Partington, of GMP’s Wigan CID, said: “Whilst we understand incidents of this nature are concerning, I want to reassure our communities that we take reports of this nature very seriously and the safety of the public is our top priority.”
