Caleb Williams produced one of the greatest touchdown passes of all time before the Chicago Bears suffered a heartbreaking overtime defeat to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night.
With just 21 seconds remaining, and the Bears on a 4th-and-4 while trailing 17-10 at Soldier Field, Williams retreated in a desperate bid to evade two Rams defenders before pulling out the most sensational of Hail Marys to find Cole Kmet in the end zone.
Yet after the extra point forced overtime, Chicago’s dreams were eventually shattered when Williams went from hero to zero by throwing a costly interception that allowed LA to go on and kick a game-winning field goal.
Regardless, his 51-yard touchdown pass left fans in astonishment on social media, with many calling it the best in history.
‘Legit the greatest play I ever saw,’ one user claimed on X.
‘This may be the craziest throw I’ve ever seen,’ said another.
A third wrote: ‘we have never seen anything like this before. caleb williams is different.’
A fourth posted: ‘easily one of the greatest throws i’ve ever seen caleb williams isn’t human’.
While one simply put: ‘One of the best throws ever holy s***’.
