US President Donald Trump told the Norwegian Prime Minister he ‘no longer feels an obligation to think purely of peace’ and vowed he will soon have ‘complete and total control’ of Greenland
Donald Trump wrote a disturbing letter to the Prime Minister of a NATO ally and astonishingly claimed Greenland is revenge for him not being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
Trump announced over the weekend that he would charge a 10% tariff starting next month on goods from the UK and seven other European nations because of their opposition to American control of Greenland – a territory which belongs to NATO ally Denmark. And in a new letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, he suggested that he was no longer interested in thinking “purely of peace” because the country did not give him the Nobel Peace Prize last year.
The US president wrote: “Dear Jonas: Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America.”
He then added: “Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a ‘right of ownership’ anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also. I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States.”
But Keir Starmer seemed to ignore Trump’s threats, claiming a tariff war against allies over Greenland is “completely wrong” and a trade war is “in no one’s interest”. In an emergency address from Downing Street, the Prime Minister said the crisis was a “moment for the whole country to pull together”.
The Prime Minister said: “A partnership does not mean abandoning principle. That is why it’s important to be clear about who we stand with, what we stand for, and where our interests lie. This is a moment for the whole country to pull together, so I warmly welcome the support we’ve had with regards to Greenland and the proposed tariffs from the Leader of the Opposition (Kemi Badenoch). I thank her for her support.
He had earlier insisted the “right way to approach an issue of this seriousness is through calm discussion between allies”. “Any decision about the future status of Greenland belongs to the people of Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark alone. That right is fundamental. The use of tariffs against allies is completely wrong.
“It is not the right way to resolve differences within an alliance, nor is it helpful to frame efforts to strengthen Greenland security as a justification for economic pressure.”

Dear Jonas: Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America
Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a ‘right of ownership’ anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland.
Thank you! President DJT
