David Beckham has wished two of his former Manchester United team-mates a happy birthday amidst the ongoing family drama. The Beckham clan is currently in a state of upheaval following a bombshell statement from Brooklyn, in which he levelled several accusations against his parents.

Brooklyn’s discontent stems from David and Victoria’s alleged attempts to manipulate the family narrative, specifically their supposed efforts to “ruin” his relationship with wife Nicola Peltz. The celebrity couple’s eldest son felt compelled to “no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth” about the family dispute.

The most startling allegation was that Victoria had behaved inappropriately towards him at his 2022 wedding and had also supposedly “hijacked” his first dance with Nicola. Brooklyn’s remarks have reignited public interest in the family, but both David and Victoria have tried to maintain a sense of normality on social media.

On Wednesday morning, David took to Instagram to send birthday wishes to Nicky Butt and Phil Neville via his stories, while Victoria did the same for Spice Girls bandmate Emma Bunton.

David posted “Happy birthday mate” with a heart emoji alongside a photo of him with Butt during their Manchester United days, as well as one captioned “Birthday Boy” featuring Butt celebrating a goal.

Ex-United midfielder Beckham took to social media to wish Phil Neville and his twin sister Tracey, the former England netball team head coach, a happy birthday. He posted a photo of the siblings with the caption “Happy Birthday you 2” accompanied by two love hearts.

Phil also received another nostalgic message from their Manchester United days.

Beckham was part of the legendary Class of 92, a group of United stars who rose through the club’s academy and went on to have illustrious careers. The group included Beckham, Nicky Butt, Phil Neville, Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, and Paul Scholes.

The lads have remained close friends and were once all co-owners of Salford City. However, as of May 2025, only Beckham and Gary Neville remain in the ownership group.

The other four still maintain ties with the club and are often spotted at matches.

Phil expressed his bond with his former teammates on Gabby Logan’s The Mid-Point podcast: “The boys Nicky, Scholesy, Gary, Becks and Giggsy are my close friends – they’re almost like my brothers,” he said. “And I don’t see them at all now. Obviously we’re on WhatsApp groups and stuff like that, but they’re getting on with their lives.”

However, Butt recently confessed his discomfort with the ‘Class of 92’ label during an appearance on the Football’s Greatest podcast. “I cringe when I hear it. But it is what it is. It’s what we’ve been known for since we all came through with Sir Alex Ferguson,” he told Scholes.

“And yeah, it’s something that I do cringe about and it just becomes something probably bigger than it really was, if I’m honest with you.”
