Police officers were stunned when they saw a drunk driver joyriding in the dead of night in a bright yellow forklift truck. He was obviously up to no forking good.
CCTV shows a drunken driver taking a forklift for a joyride in Colwyn Bay
A police car gave chase to drunk joyrider who had made off – in a stolen forklift truck . . . and it was all caught on camera. Two officers on patrol spotted the warehouse staple being driven on the road at around 2am in the morning last September and gave chase. The man was found to have a bottle of Jack Daniels and a knife on him when he was finally stopped by police.
Video footage released after he was sentenced shows the bright yellow industrial vehicle pulling out of a side street onto a road in Colwyn Bay, North Wales.
With its bright light flashing on the roof, it is seen going straight on at a roundabout, lighting up houses ring doorbells as it passes them.
As it swerves past a block of flats, a police car passes on the other side of the road and immediately turns round to give chase and follows him into another side street.
Police bodycam footage shows the moment the man was arrested for the unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle and for being in possession of a blade article. He was then further arrested for refusing to be breathalysed.
A miniature bottle of Jack Daniels was pictured at the roadside after his arrest in the post, shared by cops.
Sharing the footage on social media, a spokesman for North Wales Police said: “Footage of an incident which occurred in Colwyn Bay, whereby an intoxicated male decided to take a forklift without the owner’s consent and go for a drive.
“PC 3647 and PC 536 were on mobile patrol on 16/09/2025 at around 0200hrs when a male passed them driving the forklift with a bottle of whiskey in his possession.
“Male was stopped shortly after by officers and arrested for taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and failing to provide a roadside specimen for analysis.
“Upon searching the male, he was found to be in a possession of a bladed article for which he was also arrested. Male was later interviewed at St Asaph Custody and charged for the above offences; he pled guilty in court.”
Police said the man was given a suspended sentence and banned from driving for four years. He was also ordered to undergo drink rehab activity.
One social media wag quipped: “When happy hour is at 8 but you’ve gotta start the warehouse graveyard shift at 9.”
