The Oscar nominations were announced on Thursday morning.
While Sinners, One Battle After Another and Marty Supreme did well, there were several shocking snubs.
One was Ariana Grande who was not named for her role in Wicked: For Good in the Best Supporting Actress category. Her co-star Cynthia Erivo was also not included for Best Actress.
Another was Gwyneth Paltrow, who was left off the list for her work on Marty Supreme opposite Timothee Chalamet, who was nominated for Best Actor.
And also not on the long list was the James Cameron film Avatar: Fire and Ash for Best Picture.
The third Avatar movie has grossed $1.3 billion worldwide but did not land on Best Picture lists this awards season.

Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman announced the nominees in all 24 categories, including the new casting award, as it was viewed in a livestream from the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater.
The 98th Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood and will be televised live on ABC and in more than 200 territories worldwide.
Oscar viewers will be seeing a familiar face as Conan O’Brien will be returning to host a year after he helped last year’s ceremony draw the biggest audience in five years.
