Peter Andre insists that he is aware of how ‘damage’ Beckhams really feel and says there may be ‘a lot occurring behind closed doorways’ in fallout from Brooklyn’s assault – earlier than issuing stern warning to all mother and father

Peter Andre has insisted that he knows how ‘hurt’ the Beckhams feel and said there is ‘so much going on behind closed doors’ in the fallout from Brooklyn’s attack as he appeared on Thursday’s episode of Lorraine. 

The Mysterious Girl singer, 52, appeared on the ITV show to chat to host Lorraine Kelly, 66, about his new album Legacy. 

But the conversation soon turned to how he has been campaigning for there to be a law that under 16s are banned from using social media, and Lorraine then brought up the current Beckham family drama. 

On Monday the eldest son of David, 50, and Victoria, 51, took to Instagram to share a six-page statement, where he said he has no wishes to reconcile with his family and is standing up for himself ‘for the first time in his life‘.

Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz, 31, have been at the heart of the acrimonious divide that has resulted in them snubbing all significant family celebrations over recent months, including his father David’s milestone 50th birthday and knighthood.

Lorraine said: ‘The Beckhams… you have avoided that. Even though your kids are in the same way, have been exposed, been in reality shows and the rest of it, it’s really difficult. How do you stop that happening? The way that all this has fractured…’ 

Peter said: ‘And it’s sad. And they are nice people. I have met them many times and they are really lovely people.’ 

He continued: ‘It’s a difficult thing, you know, we’re living in times where everything is open for discussion, everything.’

Lorraine replied: ‘It’s that thing again, you said about social media, because Brooklyn put that all out there. In days gone by, that would have been happening within the family, and we know, all families are complicated right? 

‘Every family is complicated, nobody knows what’s going on inside most of them. That’s when everything is out there.’ 

Peter said: ‘That’s why I find it hard when everyone is giving their opinion on it.

‘You just don’t know! If I were to give an opinion, who is going to listen anyway? It doesn’t matter.’

He continued: ‘I would never, in something like that, I would never get involved. 

‘I know that there will be so much going on behind that you just don’t know. There will be a lot of hurt within it all, and I would hate to see that all. 

‘But it happens to everybody. I have had my fair share.’ 

Lorraine pointed out that he has had his ‘fair share of horrible criticism’ to which Peter said: ‘I don’t always not deserve criticism, I deserve criticism like everybody else.

‘I know my mistakes. I think you know, it’s about not trying to be someone that thinks I have a right to say about someone else’s family, when I’ve got things to deal with.’ 

Earlier on in the interview, Lorraine asked the singer why he is ‘so worried about social media’.

Peter explained: ‘There is nothing worse than somebody who is on social media, their kids are on social media, sitting there trying to say that social media is bad. 

‘But please understand when we started social media we started it all together, we had no idea how dangerous this was. 

‘And now, with AI, it’s AI that is  really becoming the problem, combined with social media. They can take an image of your child and create all sorts of things.’ 

Peter is dad to Junior, 20, and Princess, 18, who he shares with his ex wife Katie Price, 47 – who he was married to between 2005 and 2009. 

The pair have been on our screens since they were born and both have a huge following on their social media platforms. 

His three youngest – Amelia, 12, Theo, nine, and Arabella, one – are from his marriage to Emily MacDonagh, 36. 

They are kept out of the spotlight and their faces have never been shared online.  

Lorraine pointed out: ‘Your oldest doing their own thing, Junior is following in your footsteps, he’s doing music, Princess has got her own show. 

‘You will be there helping them, making sure that they navigate all of this, because it is difficult. But your youngest, you’re very protective of your three youngest…’

Peter explained: ‘At first Emily was like “I’m not letting them on social media”. 

‘I thought she was being a bit harsh, I’m like “Come on!”

‘Everyone wants to show off their kids, “Oh look what my kid ate last night”. It’s what we used to do as parents, or what our parents used to do.

‘But then when I started seeing as time went on, and AI started to get introduced, I was like “Thank God you have stopped them being on social media!”

‘So actually, I thank her, I can’t take the credit now, but I agree with that very much.’

Brooklyn wrote on Instagram earlier this week: ‘I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private.

‘Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.’

‘I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.

‘For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family.

‘The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.

‘Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.’

‘My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped. 

‘My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.

‘Weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children.

‘They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated.

‘My holdout affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since.

‘During the wedding planning, my mum went so far as to call me ”evil” because Nicola and I chose to include my Nanny Sandra, and Nicola’s Naunni at our table, because they both didn’t have their husbands.

‘Both of our parents had their own tables equally adjacent to ours.

‘The night before our wedding, members of my family told me that Nicola was ”not blood” and ”not family.”’

‘Since the moment I started standing up for myself with my family, I’ve received endless attacks from my parents, both privately and publicly, that were sent to the press on their orders.

‘Even my brothers were sent to attack me on social media, before they ultimately blocked me out of nowhere this last summer.

‘My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song.

‘In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead.

‘She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.

‘We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment.’

‘My wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one.

‘My mum has repeatedly invited women from my past into our lives in ways that were clearly intended to make us both uncomfortable.

‘Despite this, we still travelled to London for my dad’s birthday and were rejected for a week as we waited in our hotel room trying to plan quality time with him.

‘He refused all of our attempts, unless it was at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner.

‘When he finally agreed to see me, it was under the condition that Nicola wasn’t invited. It was a slap in the face. Later, when my family travelled to LA, they refused to see me at all.

‘My family values public promotion and endorsements above all else. Brand Beckham comes first.

‘Family ”love” is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo opp, even if it’s at the expense of our professional obligations.

‘We’ve gone out of our way for years to show up and support at every fashion show, every party, and every press activity to show ‘our perfect family.

‘But the one time my wife asked for my mum’s support to save displaced dogs during the LA fires, my mum refused.’

‘The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life.

‘I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared.

‘I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief.

‘My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.’
