Officer Beaten In Capitol Riot Coughs Obscene Message To GOP Rep During Hearing

Michael Fanone, a former Washington, D.C., police officer who was attacked by a Trump-supporting mob in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, spoke volumes in a mere cough at a hearing on Thursday. (Watch the video below.)

Listening to Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas) try to absolve President Donald Trump of responsibility for the riot, Fanone could not remain silent.

“I can tell you, gentlemen, that the fault does not lie with Donald Trump,” Nehls proclaimed to Fanone and other officers in the room. “It lies with … the U.S. Capitol leadership team.”

“We know they had the intelligence,” Nehls continued.

In a now-viral clip, Fanone leaned over, covered his mouth and coughed loudly, “Fuck yourself.”

“… And there was going to be a high propensity for violence that day,” Nehls went on.

Fanone was then called to order.

The F-bomb exploded at a hearing in which Jack Smith, who prosecuted Trump for his alleged role in the insurrection and mishandling classified documents, testified before the House Judiciary Committee.

The former officer, who suffered a heart attack and a traumatic brain injury after being pummeled and shocked with a Taser by the rioters, has become an outspoken critic of the president.
