Hulk Hogan household seashore snap goes viral after morbid ‘cemetery’ be aware added

Hulk Hogan died last July, a fact that was bluntly pointed out on X when a user shared a photo of the Hulkster at the beach. A community note fact checker said: “That doesn’t work for me, brother.”

A photo of wrestling legend Hulk Hogan left social media users in hysterics thanks to a blunt community note telling them he “spends his time at the cemetery”.

The photo showed the bronzed WWE hall of famer – born Terry Gene Bollea – posing with a group of people at the beach. The picture was shared by an X user with 204,000 followers, who captioned it: “Hulk really does spend all day at the beach.”

But a community note – the site’s fact-checking facility – added some blunt extra context. It read: “Hulk Hogan actually spends his time at the cemetery because he has been dead since July 24, 2025.”

The crowdsourced context had been rated as “helpful” by X users as it “directly addresses the post’s claim” and was “easy to understand”, with one wag joking: “Strong contender for greatest community note of all time.”

The post has been seen more than 12 million times at the time of publication and garnered thousands of retweets and replies, including one that read: “That is the funniest community note I’ve ever seen, lol.

“I didn’t mark it as unhelpful because I need more community notes like that to give me some laughs.” Another said: “Funniest community note I’ve ever seen.” Someone else said: “An all time community note.”

Hogan was one of the biggest stars the wrestling industry had ever seen and was the face of the WWE throughout the 1980s and early 90s.

The legendary grappler was found dead in his home in Clearwater, Florida, on July 24 last year. Medics rushed to his home but he could not be saved.

With his iconic red and yellow ring gear and muscular frame, he was beloved by fans and help the sport break into mainstream culture in the US and abroad. His look was topped off with his trademark bandana and handlebar moustache.

He became larger than life figure and appeared in films such as Rocky III and his far-reaching influence helped transform WWE into a global juggernaut.

Among his career highlights was the time he headlined WrestleMania III and body slammed the 7’4, 500lb Andre The Giant to win the World Heavyweight title.

But away from the ring, his reputation was tarnished in recent years and he was axed from the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015 after audio of a racist rant emerged in which he used the n-word. He was reinstated in 2018.

Ahead of the 2024 US election, he vociferously campaigned for Donald Trump and later launched his own beer brand, Real American, a nod to his 1980s wrestling nickname.

And on his final televised WWE appearance – during the first episode of Raw on Netflix in January 2025 – he was hit by a chorus of loud boos when he walked on stage from the crowd in Los Angeles.
