Around 100 mourners gathered at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Leeds to say goodbye to Wales and Leeds United legend Terry Yorath.
Yorath, 75, passed away earlier this month after a battle with a short illness. His daughter, and BBC presenter, Gabby Logan, was forced to leave Match of the Day midway through the show due to a “family emergency”.
And she confirmed his death, alongside her siblings, with a statement: “To most he was a revered footballing hero, but to us he was Dad; a quiet, kind and gentle man,” it read.

“Our hearts are broken but we take comfort knowing that he will be reunited with our brother, Daniel.”
And mourners had to the chance to wave goodbye on Monday (January 26) with an emotional ceremony at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, just north of the city centre. A floral tribute at the back of his hurst read “Grandad,” placed by his grandchildren.
One of his grandchildren, Lois Logan, who is Gabby’s daughter, sang Jerusalem at his request. Gabby’s son, Reuben Logan, read a poem to the congregation.
While Gabby described her dad as a “kind-hearted and generous man” with a “wicked sense of humour”.
Yorath’s coffin was adorned with flowers in the blue, yellow and white colours of Leeds while it was also decorated with a floral arrangement in the shape of the Wales flag. Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau was sung as they entered the church.
Familiar faces were present as former Wales manager Chris Coleman, Leeds icon Eddie Gray and Don Goodman all arrived at the church.
Presenter and comedian Elis James delivered a eulogy, telling the congregation about Yorath’s life in sport. He also spoke about the tragic death of his son Daniel which “devastated the whole family and the whole community”.
Yorath is survived by his children – Gabby, Louise, and Jordan.
