Andrew Tate faces a mix of criminal and civil legal action in three countries – the UK, the US and Romania – and faces arrest if he enters Britain after being charged with rape and other offences
Controversial social media influencer Andrew Tate has made another bizarre pitch to be UK prime minister – despite facing arrest if he ever steps foot in the country. Tate, 38, was charged with 10 offences including rape last May.
Moreover, he is accused of rape and holding a gun to a woman’s face in a separate civil case due to be heard before the High Court. The ex-pro kickboxer and his brother Tristan are currently in Romania facing allegations of sex offences, trafficking and money laundering.
However, last year he launched a political party called Britain Restoring Underlying Values (Bruv), complete with a website and manifesto.
As a result, in a video shared to the part’s social media this week, Tate ranted from behind a podium in front of two Union flags: “When I’m in charge of Britain, anybody who’s disrespecting our flag will be deported!” Nevertheless, social media users were quick to point out the major flaw in his plan.
A blunt community note on X (formerly known as Twitter) read: “Andrew Tate does not reside in Britain and cannot even return without facing multiple charges of rape, actual bodily harm and human trafficking.” One social media wag quipped: “Can you be ‘in charge of Britain’ from inside a prison cell?”
Another asked: “Didn’t this guy love UK so much he moved to Romania? what an absolute clown.”
Tate and his brother Tristan appeared together in another video in which they ranted about their plan to deploy 25,000 plainclothes cops in London. One X user replied to that clip: “You doing this again?
“Weird. Come back to the UK.
“See how that works out for you.” Authorities in Romania are investigating the Tate brothers, who have dual British-American citizenship, and they are due to be extradited to the UK after the Romanian court procedure.
A CPS spokesperson said last May: “We can confirm that we have authorised charges against Andrew and Tristan Tate for offences including rape, human trafficking, controlling prostitution and actual bodily harm against three women. These charging decisions followed receipt of a file of evidence from Bedfordshire Police.
“A European Arrest Warrant was issued in England in 2024, and as a result the Romanian courts ordered the extradition to the UK of Andrew and Tristan Tate. However, the domestic criminal matters in Romania must be settled first.”
Andrew Tate was born in the US but raised as a child in Luton, Bedfordshire, and first found fame as World Champion kickboxer before he appeared in reality tv show Big Brother. After his kickboxing career, he set up a webcam model business along with younger brother Tristan.
He then sold online courses aimed at young men. Last week, video shared online showed him and far-right US activist Nick Fuentes singing along to Kanye West’s Heil Hitler.
