Happy Mondays legend Shaun Ryder has landed a new gig – plugging male ‘nappies’. He and ‘Madchester’ band mate Bez are banging the drum for TENA Men incontinence undies after 50 million streams of their hits landed them just ‘25 quid’.

The pair plan to dish out men’s health advice at an ‘In Conversation with’ show in Manchester tonight (thurs) to ensure all their male fans have a ‘dry January’.

Announcing the move in a promo video Shaun, 63, said: “TENA has found that 68% of men feel there’s a lot of stigma around us discussing health openly and we want to help you to start having the conversation.

“It’s a dry January so we’re heading to a dry bar with TENA Men to encourage guys to talk and open up with each other. We’ll chat about topics like confidence and physical and mental changes.

“Look out for the content over the coming weeks. If you have any concerns about your health please talk to friends, family and your GP. Looking forward to seeing you all.”

The Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches singer has been candid about poor earnings from streaming the band’s many hits.

He said: “Fifty million streams makes you about 25 quid. Whoever did that deal wants his ****ing b**** cutting off.”

He and Bez are going back on the road with the band later this year and will give away a pair of tickets to a gig at the health chat. But after a career of addictions, arrests and fallouts the band are unlikely to return to their old partying ways.

Shaun, who has won battles with booze and drugs, said in a separate interview: “I was 18. We were just living how we wanted.”

He said he believed he was invincible until his early 50s when he suffered his first panic attack. That’s when I realised I weren’t,” he said. “But I’m grateful to still be here.”

The I’m A Celebrity star has been drug‑free for two decades and says his youngest children ‘have never even met that person’.

Dancer and DJ Mark ‘Bez’ Berry, 61, said in the promo: “Yes, how do everybody. It’s Bez here and I’m ready to talk about our, and especially when I say ‘our’, men’s health. Looking forward to seeing you all. Ciao for now.”
