A hiker has been branded “crazy” from supporters after he proudly was able to scale a mountain wearing nothing but a pair of shorts. This was despite temperatures plummeting to the horrific lows of -35C.

Mateusz Karbowy stripped down, wearing only shorts, hiking boots and a woolly hat, as he trudged through snow for his latest death-defying stunt. The 27-year-old put his nearly nude body through hell after battling a fierce snowstorm to conquer the mountain peak.

The daredevil tackled Mount Śnieżka in Poland, which towers 1,603 metres (5,259ft) above sea level. Facing 31mph gales and –35°C temperatures, Mateusz pushed on for a gruelling two hours to conquer the summit.

Once he posted footage online, the clip amassed a staggering 10.5million views and 210,000 likes. The internet star is no stranger to extreme challenges, often wowing his 500,000 followers every month with clips showing him undertaking jaw-dropping feats.

Footage of his brutal expedition revealed just how the freezing conditions were affecting his body, with snow sticking to his body hair. “Viewers don’t always realise the scale of the mental and physiological challenge involved,” Mateusz told NeedToKnow.

“At the summit, despite these harsh conditions, I was running and performing handstands, which further extended the cold exposure. The total time spent exposed to the cold, wearing only shorts, was nearly two hours, including both the ascent and time on the summit.

“The first moments are always the hardest — the body naturally resists — but after that, a state of deep focus and full presence appears. Survival hormones are released as the body fights to stay warm and functional, operating at maximum capacity.

“Every step required conscious breathing, emotional control, and constant awareness of bodily signals.” The jaw-dropping feat left internet spectators both awestruck and horrified.

One horrified viewer who watched the challenge unfold exclaimed in the comments section: “Crazy.” Meanwhile, a second chimed in with: “Horrible use of free will.”

Others decided to be more cheeky with their comments, with one commenter saying: “You had a hat, that’s cheating.” Mason added: “This is the most optional activity I have ever witnessed.”

A fifth viewer sarcastically remarked: “Nerve damage is like the best thing ever.” Mateusz, however, is no stranger to these death-defying stunts, having taken on similar challenges in extremely cold temperatures; including ice baths in frozen lakes within Poland itself.
