WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis has been arrested following a two-week manhunt on allegations of domestic violence.
The notorious American fighter, 31, was arrested on Wednesday (January 28) after police put out a warrant for his arrest on January 14. ‘Tank’ faces charges of alleged false imprisonment, battery and attempted kidnapping relating to an incident in October.
After an extensive hunt for the southpaw by Miami Gardens Police and US Marshals, the former IBF and WBA super featherweight and ex-WBA super lightweight champion was finally taken into custody and his bond has been set at $16,000 (£11,568).

In a statement earlier this month, police in Miami said Davis allegedly “grabbed” a woman “by the back of her hair with one hand and by her throat with the other”, before “forcefully” trying to move her in a strip club in the Miami Gardens area.
Davis is claimed to have “forcefully escorted” her out of the premises and down a stairway into a garage, where he is said to have released his grip on the woman, allowing her to seek help from co-workers.
It added: “Lead detective Gary Florencio obtained and viewed video surveillance footage that corroborates key elements of the victim’s statement.”
Davis is also facing a civil lawsuit filed by ex-girlfriend Cortney Rossel in October on accusations of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Rossel is seeking compensatory and punitive damages of over “of over $50,000” (£38,100) and has requested a jury trial.
Davis was also previously arrested on battery and domestic violence charges in February 2020 and December 2022. And six months ago, another former girlfriend dropped a domestic violence case against him.
The Baltimore-native served 44 days in jail in 2023 after violating the terms of a 90-day house arrest sentence in relation to a criminal hit-and-run case that happened in his home city in November 2020.
He ran a red light in his Lamborghini Urus SUV and struck another vehicle containing four people, including a pregnant woman, who was left with a knee injury, before he fled the scene.
Injured mum Jyair Smith said: “I begged Mr Gervonta Davis, I looked him in his eyes. I said, ‘I have to get home to my daughter, I’m pregnant.’ He never once came over to help me.”
‘Tank’ was set to fight YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in an exhibition bout in Miami on November 14. However, the fight was cancelled after the lawsuit was filed, with Anthony Joshua instead facing Paul.
