A teen has been charged for the murder of a mother who was stabbed 70 times and had her house set on fire at Facebook Marketplace meet up in Illinois
An out of control teen has been accused of stabbing a pregnant woman to death, attacking her pet dog and setting her home ablaze during a Facebook marketplace meet up.
Nedas Revuckas, 19, has been hit with charges for murder and is accused of killing 30-year-old Eliza Morales. Prosecutors said Revuckas responded to a Facebook Marketplace listing inquiring about a dark red 1994 Ford Ranger pickup truck listed by Morales’ husband over the weekend.
The teen agreed to come to the woman’s home in Downers Grove, Illinois, on Monday (January 26) to exchange the license plates. Surveillance video later captured Morale meeting up with Revuckas at the house at around 5:30 p.m and handing him a screwdriver and entering the home leading to “what appears to be a struggle”.
The door handle of the home is later seen turning as if someone was trying to escape the house. After around 10 minutes later, a fire is sparked and smoke is seen pluming form Morales’ home.
At around 6:09 p.m, police and firefighters discovered Morales unresponsive with roughly 70 stab wounds to her neck and head, according to an autopsy. Morales’ elderly pit bull mix, Zula was also injured during the incident as the dog was stabbed between her eyes but managed to escape through a sliding door during the fire. The animal was later taken to hospital for care.
After arriving at his home in Westmont, with the pickup truck in his driveway, police took Revuckas in for questioning. The teen later “confessed to murdering Eliza” after cops said they found bloody clothing inside his home, the outlet reported.
In a court hearing a proffer stated: “The defendant indicated he stabbed the victim 10 times. The defendant was upset about the condition of the dark red 1994 Ford Ranger pickup truck that he had purchased and decided to take out his frustration on Eliza.
“The defendant got into a fight with Eliza. The defendant said that during the fight, Eliza mentioned that she was pregnant.”
Gabriel, Morales’ husband, was working when he received the call his wife and unborn baby had died.
The mourning father said: “I’m gonna spend the rest of my life missing her.
“I can get every second back with her and just continue try to live through her for my daughter.
“And continue to be strong for my family.”
Revuckas has been hit with charges of first-degree murder, intentional homicide of an unborn child, armed robbery, aggravated arson, and animal cruelty charges in connection with the tragic killing.
