A man has asked judges to reduce the punishment his wife will receive in court after she cut off his penis. His manhood was severed in a horrific knife assault, but despite sustaining devastating injuries, he has pleaded for mercy.

The horrific attack took place at a café on South Korea’s Ganghwa Island just over one year ago. In the terrifying incident, the woman, apparently driven by jealousy, launched an ambush after being convinced her husband was having an affair.

The 58-year-old woman, known only as A during the course of the case, was later found guilty of special aggravated bodily harm following the attack in August 2024.

However, as she prepares to be sentenced for her crimes, her husband has asked for the punishment not to be so severe. Court papers revealed that on the night of the attack, her husband, 50, had been drinking by himself in the café.

He had shortly fallen asleep in the café when the woman burst in and launched the attack on her partner. Prosecutors say the woman’s son-in-law, a 40-year-old man referred to as B, turned up at the venue, taking her side in the altercation.

In statements, it was revealed that he pinned down his own father using rope and industrial tape so he could not move, according to the Mirror. With her spouse unable to escape, the woman stabbed him repeatedly before wielding a sharp weapon to hack off his penis.

She then got rid of it by flushing it down the café’s toilet. By opting to flush the flesh down the loo, it eliminated any possibility of surgeons reattaching it to the man’s body, the court heard.

Paramedics were called to the scene and soon discovered the wounded man and raced him to hospital. After losing a considerable amount of blood, the victim underwent emergency surgery and luckily pulled through and.

However, medics confirmed he was left with lasting physical injuries alongside serious psychological damage following the attack. Despite the nightmare of the assault, the victim appeared to reach an agreement with his wife and officially requested the court show her leniency.

Judges confirmed his plea was considered when the sentence was delivered. The woman was handed a seven-year stint in prison, whilst her son-in-law was sentenced to four years behind bars for his part in holding down the victim.

Both faced the Incheon District Court on different occasions in January. Officers revealed the woman had meticulously orchestrated the assault after becoming convinced her husband was cheating on her.

Detectives looking into the case also explained she had recruited her daughter to assist in surveillance of him. The couple’s daughter was subsequently fined for unlawfully monitoring her father using GPS technology acquired through an unlicensed private detective.

The case has since rocked South Korea, with judges condemning the assault as extraordinarily brutal despite the victim’s appeal for leniency.
