Manchester United don’t have much time left before the January transfer window shuts for another year. The Red Devils have been strongly linked with strengthening their squad ahead of Monday’s deadline, yet haven’t completed any fresh signings.

Michael Carrick was named as United’s interim head coach for the remainder of the campaign earlier this month and has made an excellent start in the Old Trafford hot seat.

United have secured victories against Manchester City and Arsenal in their previous two fixtures, and will be looking to maintain that winning streak when they take on Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The triumph over the Gunners lifted United into fourth spot in the Premier League standings and put them ahead of rivals Liverpool and Chelsea in the battle for Champions League qualification.

Off the pitch, United continue to be linked with various potential new arrivals, though it’s unclear whether the Red Devils will turn to the transfer market for additions before Monday’s deadline, reports the Mirror.

Here, the Daily Star takes a look some of the most recent United transfer speculation and rumours that have surfaced in the past 24 hours.

Joao Gomes latest

United remain linked with a potential swoop for Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes as the January transfer window approaches its end. TEAMtalk has reported that United are considering whether to launch a bid for Gomes ahead of Monday’s deadline.

Nevertheless, whilst United maintain their interest in securing Gomes’ signature, the report suggests that any transfer is unlikely to materialise until the summer at the very earliest.

Recent speculation has indicated that Wolves place a valuation of approximately £43million (€50million) on Gomes.

Joshua Zirkzee targeted

Joshua Zirkzee finds himself once more linked with a departure from United before the transfer window closes.

Tuttosport has reported that Juventus have now registered their interest in securing Zirkzee’s services ahead of Monday’s deadline.

The Italian giants are said to be seeking a striker before the window closes, and with primary target Randal Kolo Muani appearing increasingly set to stay at Tottenham Hotspur, Zirkzee has emerged as the preferred alternative.

The report further states that, should Zirkzee make the switch to Juventus, it would be on a loan deal running until the campaign’s conclusion.
