Katie Price’s family are said to be ‘horrified’ by her shock marriage to Dubai businessman Lee Andrews, which followed months of erratic behaviour.
Concerns are said to be growing for Katie Price after weeks of erratic behaviour left her loved ones ‘horrified’ and ‘dumbstruck’. And as worrying details emerge about the star’s quickie wedding, experts have offered insight into Katie’s extreme decision-making.
The glamour model, 47, married her fourth husband in a surprise wedding in Dubai. She stunned fans by flashing a whopping new diamond to her followers, posing with the mystery man who appeared to have her name tattooed on his hand.
In the Instagram snap from her lavish Dubai getaway, the star stood next to rose petals spelling out “Will you marry me Katie?” in front of a hot tub.
The shock proposal from businessman Lee Andrews was Katie’s ninth after four failed marriages, and came just days after news broke of her split from MAFS star and boyfriend of two years, JJ Slater. News of the nuptials left family members stunned.
Only the two lovebirds were present, with Katie in a revealing cut-out dress. But married life has got off to a rocky start after Andrews was accused of sending explicit texts to another woman weeks earlier, doctoring selfies with celebs and telling fibs about his career.
Just days before her shock shotgun wedding, Katie left fans seriously worried when she was snapped looking extremely thin and gaunt, with friends warning that her surgery obsession could be spiralling out of control as she enters a new phase
And as sources close to Katie say they are “worried she’s spinning out of control,” experts said a speedy wedding can reflect a “strong need for emotional connection, safety or validation” rather than a “clear readiness for a new relationship”.
Psychologist Dr Louise Goddard-Crawley told the Mirror: “From an attachment point of view, being in a relationship can provide comfort, identity and emotional regulation.
“When there is little time between relationships, there is often limited space to grieve or reflect on what has ended, and the new relationship can bring a short-term sense of relief from distress or loneliness.”
Katie herself once revealed: “My downfall is men. I’ve had to learn all this in therapy. I need that neediness and then I end up in a toxic relationship, narcissist or gaslighting… but now I know my validators it’s completely different.
“I wish I knew then what I knew now to go back there, because there was no therapy, no one would know anything, and I didn’t give myself a break in between relationships, because it was like, oh, I need to get another one. It’s nuts.”
Details about Andrews’ private life have emerged in recent days, including that he proposed to another women in the same way just months earlier and had spent time in prison for fraud charges before meeting Katie.
Despite his murky background, Katie has called her new hubby her “real life Richard Gere”. But Aubrey B. Hunt, a licensed therapist and clinical supervisor at Willow Ridge, believes there’s a reason why the mum-of-five said “I do” so quickly.
She said: “The strong early chemistry between two people creates an impression of power, although it fails to demonstrate whether a partner can handle conflicts, stressful situations, financial matters and long-term commitments.
“Relationships that endure over time depend on people sharing their values and creating emotional stability and developing trust, which requires both time and actual life experiences together.”
