Littleborough aircraft crash as large emergency providers response warns ‘keep away from space’

A plane has crashed in Greater Manchester this afternoon (February 3) sparking a huge emergency services response.

Police, paramedics and firefighters raced to the scene following the light aircraft crash landing in the area of Littleborough. There is believed to have been two people on board the plane, however this has not yet been officially confirmed.

It is currently unknown at this time if there have been any injuries as a result of the crash. The exact location has not been confirmed but it is believed to be between Blackstone Edge and Hollingworth Lake, reports Manchester Evening News.

A map from Flight Radar appears to show the light aircraft setting off from an area in the Midlands at around 10am today.

Unconfirmed reports suggest it appeared to lose altitude as it made its journey towards Littleborough.

Multiple helicopters have been seen flying above the crash site, according to the MEN.

Greater Manchester Police said emergency crews are currently “assessing any casualties”. It is currently unknown how the crash occurred.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: “Emergency services are responding to reports of a light aircraft crash in the Littleborough area.

“We are currently in attendance to establish the full circumstances and assess any casualties.

“A scene is in place whilst emergency service workers conduct their enquiries and people are asked to avoid the area as this work is carried out.”
