Trump’s Super Bowl U-turn? White House insider insists president WILL be in San Francisco for the massive sport… regardless of preliminary plans to skip it

For months, US president Donald Trump has scrutinized the NFL’s controversial decision to award the Super Bowl LX halftime show to anti-MAGA artist Bad Bunny.

Despite his fierce opposition, however, plans are still in place for the Puerto Rican rapper to take to the stage at Levi’s Stadium for Sunday’s finale in San Francisco.

Bunny, previously, has spoken out against the Trump administration and cited ICE agents as a reason why he did not include any mainland US dates for his tour – before once again calling out the federal law enforcement group at the 2026 Grammys.

Trump, in response, revealed that he would swerve football’s showpiece event and later doubled down on his criticism of Bad Bunny as a ‘terrible choice’ for the big day.

Publicly, the US president has since stood by his declaration that he will not attend the game at Levi’s Stadium. However, in a dramatic twist, a White House insider has revealed to the Daily Mail that Trump is expected to make a U-turn over his decision.

In an exclusive interview, sports broadcaster Emily Austin said: ‘Trump is going. Mark my words, he’s going. A little birdie at the ‘Melania’ premiere might have told me.

‘That little birdie is very close to the president and he will be going as well. And if the president doesn’t go, he’ll be going,’ she added.

In wake of his shock Super Bowl selection, Bad Bunny – who was born Benito Antonio Martinez – has since publicly poked fun at the uproar from his critics.

The Puerto Rican artist was the host of ‘Saturday Night Live‘ back in October, shortly after the announcement, and addressed his haters during his opening monologue.

‘You might not know this but I’m doing the Super Bowl halftime show and I’m very happy and I think everyone is happy about it – even Fox News,’ Bad Bunny said.

The rapper than spoke in Spanish for several seconds before finishing his monologue by saying: ‘If you did not understand what I just said… you have four months to learn!’

Ahead of the big game, Austin believes that it would be a ‘very powerful statement’ for Trump to attend Super Bowl LX ‘despite disagreeing with what’s happening’.

The 24-year-old sports broadcaster was also present at Sunday night’s 2026 Grammy Awards, where Bad Bunny doubled down on his criticisms of ICE in the wake of multiple civilian deaths in recent weeks, just seven days prior to his performance.

‘Before I say thanks to god, I’m going to say, ICE Out,’ the Puerto Rican star declared.

On Sunday night, Bad Bunny doubled down on his criticisms of ICE in his acceptance speech

‘We are not savage. We are not animals. We are not aliens. We are humans, and we are Americans,’ the Puerto Rican singer said.

Austin, meanwhile, previously went viral at the Club World Cup for her interview with Trump

‘The hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love. So, please, we need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love,’ he declared, while being met with applause from the evening’s attendees.

Austin, who has worked for the likes of DAZN and Sports Illustrated, admitted that the latter message was ‘very beautiful’ but lamented the fact that it was not his message of ‘love over hate’ that was lauded and, rather, his ‘ICE Out’ declaration.

‘Bad Bunny actually gave a very unified message but what’s sad is that it didn’t get the standing ovation – but the ‘ICE Out’ got the standing ovation,’ Austin explained.

‘I love his music, but if you’re going to take every opportunity to berate the country that helped you become who you are today, I don’t believe you deserve that platform.

‘To perform at the Super Bowl for Americans – the rest of the world doesn’t care at all – is such a privilege and an honor. I think he’s taking the freedoms here for granted’.

The 24-year-old also suggested that it was ‘inconsiderate’ from NFL chiefs ‘to the Americans who want to enjoy non-political football’ to offer the Puerto Rican the opportunity to perform at Super Bowl LX in the first place.

She added: ‘I hope somebody points out to him while he’s standing in that arena and when he walks out of the field: ‘Look at the people watching you’.

On the night of the Grammys, Austin sparked a political firestorm on social media after filming her reaction to Billie Eilish’s acceptance speech – which ended with the Wildflower singer declaring ‘F*** ICE’ to those inside the Crypto.com Arena in LA.

The evening’s attendees all rose to their feet to applaud Eilish however Austin remained seated in the viral video which has been viewed over 30 million times.

The DAZN presenter insisted that her defiance on the night – illustrated by her seated protest to Eilish’s comments and her diamond encrusted clutch bag which had the American flag embroidered onto it – was a way of representing the ‘silent majority.’

‘Let me remind you, most of the country, we voted for Donald Trump,’ she said.

‘Donald Trump campaigned on closing the borders and deporting illegal immigrants, and every previous president has done the same, but everyone’s pretending like it’s something we can’t talk about.’

‘It’s so frustrating because I genuinely believe that if we all speak out, it will just become normalized, and then it won’t be so polarizing,’ Austin added.

‘The polarization is because one side is loud and the other side is not. If both sides proudly have their own opinion, then we can have discourse to hash these problems out.

‘But until they speak up, which they never will because they like their pockets full, this will never change’.
