A 10-year-old girl has suffered potentially life-changing injuries after a dog attack in Greater Manchester.
The young child was rushed to hospital at around 3.30pm on Wednesday following the incident on Roseneath Road in Bolton.
The youngster suffered serious injuries, local police confirmed in the hours that followed, which are ‘believed to be life-changing’.
A man, 28, and a 52-year-old woman have since been arrested on suspicion of possessing a dog dangerously out of control. They both remained in custody.
Two dogs have been detained by Greater Manchester Police‘s (GMP) dog unit, though it is currently unclear whether just one or both of the pets were involved.
A statement released by GMP read: ‘Shortly before 3.30pm this afternoon (Wednesday, February 4) officers were called to reports of a dog attack on Roseneath Road, Bolton.
‘Emergency services attended and a 10-year-old girl was taken to hospital with serious injuries, believed to be life-changing.
‘Armed Response Vehicles and GMP Dog Unit were deployed, and two dogs have been detained.
