Truth behind Chappell Roan’s nipple-piercing Grammys look revealed… after outfit sparked worldwide shock

Chappell Roan’s Grammy Awards look certainly shocked viewers on Sunday, rivaling Bianca Censori‘s 2025 naked dress, but it turns out her exposed pierced nipples were not even real.

The eccentric Grammy winner – turning 28 this month – enlisted the talents of SFX artist Sasha Glasser to create prosthetic pasties strong enough to hold up the elaborate draping on her custom Mugler burgundy gown.

The beauty illusion used the new prosthetic brand Out Of Kit, which sells $89.99 premium silicone-based peel and stick pierced nipples on its website.

‘The idea was for her to not be so naked,’ Glasser explained to Allure on Tuesday.

‘It’s not like any other type of prosthetic because it has a sticky backing, like a Band-Aid, so you don’t have to glue it down.’

Glasser and her team – including Malina Stearns and Chelsea Delfino – reinforced the nip-covers with the medical-grade adhesive Telesis glue and a tiny piece of power mesh to make sure the rings didn’t rip out.

‘I cut a dime-size piece, glued it to the back of the prosthetic, and then we stuck the earring through both the prosthetic and the mesh,’ she noted.

The daring concept, including the numerous faux tattoos, was conceived by Roan’s stylist Genesis Webb who joined her on the red carpet outside LA’s Crypto.com Arena.

‘Giggling because I don’t even think this is THAT outrageous of an outfit,’ The Subway songstress – who boasts 16.2 million social media followers – reacted to the uproar on Monday.

‘The look’s actually so awesome and weird. I recommend just exercising your free will it’s really fun and silly.’

It’s been two years since Glasser crafted a prosthetic pig nose for Roan (born Kayleigh Rose Amstutz) to wear at a Universal after-party since she ‘was not invited to the actual Grammys.’

The Missouri-born belter is famed for her drag-inspired persona and she’s clearly relishing how prosthetic make-up takes her typically outlandish looks to the next level.

Roan is next scheduled to headline the six-date Laneway Festival starting this Thursday in Auckland, New Zealand.

The flame-haired lesbian will then compete for the pop song of the year trophy for Pink Pony Club at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards, which air March 26 on Fox.

Roan faces heavy competition in the gender-neutral category against Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Alex Warren as well as Huntrix: Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami.

The Giver singer – who averages 34.6 million monthly visitors on Spotify – has sold over 25 million RIAA-certified units since beginning her career in 2014 on YouTube.
