Britain faces being thrust into a brutal sub-zero deep freeze with snow poised to batter the UK in just a matter of days. This follows extensive snowfall that has already blanketed much of the nation since the beginning of 2026.

Data from WXCHARTS reveals snow is forecast to slam into the country from Friday (February 13) through to Tuesday (February 17). The latest projections indicate snowfall will start on Friday, with Scotland bracing for as much as a staggering 51 inches of the white stuff.

Come 6am, snowfall rates could reach 20mm per hour, with north Wales, the Midlands and eastern England bearing the brunt of the onslaught. By Sunday (February 15) at 6am, bone-chilling temperatures will likely engulf the entire UK, with the mercury dropping down massively.

Icy blue dominates the map, showing temperatures plummeting to between 0C and -3C across all regions. Only the southern tip of Cornwall will escape the worst, enjoying relatively warm conditions of around 8C, according to the Express.

Valentine’s Day appears to offer slight respite, though scattered rain and snow will persist — largely confined to Scotland and Wales. Come Monday (February 16) at midnight, vast stretches of Britain are anticipated to be shrouded in snow.

The maps show virtually the entire UK draped in purple, signalling widespread snowfall from the Scottish Highlands down to Plymouth, with scarcely any areas escaping. By Tuesday (February 17) snow appears set to penetrate as far south as the Midlands, whilst southern England looks to remain relatively dry.

The Met Office cautions, however, that forecasting snowfall remains notoriously challenging. A Met Office projection states: “Predominantly cyclonic patterns are expected to dominate the UK.

“The early part of this period could see colder conditions becoming established more widely for a time, bringing with it the likelihood of some snow. Milder and wetter weather may however hang on in the far south.

“By the end of this period, the track of Atlantic depressions may shift a little further north than during the last few weeks. This will maintain broadly unsettled weather, with further spells of rain and perhaps strong winds at times.

“Many parts may become somewhat milder, given more of a westerly influence. Though there remains the chance that colder conditions could linger towards the northeast.”

It comes as other parts of Europe are being coated with snow as winter continues to bite right across the continent. Eastern Europe is also seeing dramatic temperature drops, with some areas reaching as low as -27C, with fears that it could be a danger to life.
