A man has died fafter collapsing at a packed Sydney techno festival, with six other revellers rushed to hospital and one now in a critical condition.
The 40-year-old man suffered a medical episode on Saturday night while attending the global Dreamstate music festival at Sydney Olympic Park, triggering an emergency response as panicked attendees looked on.
Paramedics worked desperately to revive the man, but he died at the scene at around 11.30pm.
He has not yet been formally identified.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
The Dreamstate music festival, which is advertised online as being a trance and techno destination, goes for two days with the first night being held in Sydney and Sunday’s event being held in Melbourne.
On Sunday about 45,000 people are expected to flock to Centennial Park for the Laneway Festival.
