A spokesman for Cardiff University said earlier on Saturday: “We can confirm there was a serious incident involving a member of university academic staff yesterday (Friday February 6, 2026) afternoon.
“Emergency services were in attendance and we continue to assist the police, and others, with their ongoing investigations.
“At this stage it is important not to speculate about the event or circumstances surrounding it.
“We would urge any university staff or students who are concerned and have been impacted to make use of the university’s support services.
