It didn’t take long for fireworks to erupt over on Truth Social – Bad Bunny’s performance featured a sly dig at the President and ICE which left Trump less than impressed
Donald Trump has launched into a furious late-night rant over the Super Bowl LX halftime show, with the 47th President of the US branding the performance “disgusting” and “one of the worst EVER ”.
Trump skipped the NFL blockbuster game altogether, insisting his absence came down to “distance issues”. But, despite the distance, he found plenty of time to unload on Grammy Award-winning music superstar Bad Bunny from the sidelines.
And it didn’t take long for fireworks to erupt.
Bad Bunny seemed to aim a sly dig at Mr Trump during his halftime spectacle, with footage of his Grammy Awards speech playing on a small TV screen in front of a family — including a young boy. In the clip, the singer declared: “Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say ICE out.”
It was that moment that spurred the US President into action. Taking to his own social media platform, Truth Social, Mr Trump blasted the show in his trademark furious fashion. He wrote: “The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER! It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence.”
He then claimed viewers had no idea what was going on, adding: “Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting — especially for young children watching throughout the U.S.A. and all over the World.”
Mr Trump continued his tirade by calling the performance a “slap in the face” to America, before veering off into a boast about the economy and attacking what he dubbed the “Fake News Media” for inevitably praising the show.
“There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show,” he raged, predicting glowing reviews from outlets that “haven’t got a clue what’s going on in the REAL WORLD”.
But the halftime drama wasn’t his only gripe.
The US President also took aim at the NFL’s controversial kickoff rule, which restricts player movement before the ball is caught or hits the ground.
“And, by the way,” he added, “the NFL should immediately replace its ridiculous new Kickoff Rule. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
