Sophia Kirkby, who is representing Team USA in luge at the Winter Olympics, is advertising herself for dates in the Olympic village.
Kirkby, 24, shared an Instagram reel from inside the village last week that explained to her 23,000 followers that she is looking for romance while in Italy and wants to take her fans along for the journey.
‘Athlete Village’s Most Eligible Bachelorette Arrives Tomorrow,’ she wrote alongside the post, which showed her walking inside a dorm room with Olivia Dean’s So Easy (To Fall in Love) playing in the background.
She also posted: ‘I’ve been so excited to enter the Olympic village. I’m happy to announce I’ll be showing you the inside life of an Olympian dating at the Olympics. Stay tuned.’
The American, who competes in the doubles event and has both silver and bronze medals to her name from the World Championship, said in the video that it would be ‘interesting for people to see the dating life of an Olympian during the Games.’
She wrote in an earlier post: ‘I’ll be sharing what it’s like navigating the dating world of competing athletes – wild schedules, early bedtimes, constant travel… and somehow still trying to be romantic.’
Team USA’s Sophia Kirby has found it her mission to find a Valentine while at the Winter Olympic Games
Kirby has shared a number of posts on social media advertising herself for dates while she is in the Olympic village
Another video showed how Kirby has brought hand made cappuccino cups with her to the village because she is ‘hoping for a wholesome little cappuccino date.’
She added in another that she was looking to ‘accidentally meet the love of my life.’
Kirby is based with the other luge competitors in Cortina, with the doubles category of the women’s competition making its debut this year.
She has stated how she is expecting to spend Valentine’s Day in the village – despite her sport finishing on February 11 – and said in another post that she again ‘might be on the hunt for a cappuccino date,’ adding: ‘May love be in the air.’
Furthermore, after the Opening Ceremony of Friday, she shared a post of her pointing towards the Team USA congregation in Cortina, with the caption: ‘My Valentine might be in this line somewhere.’
Another video showed a volunteer on open night seemingly trying to set Kirby up on a date – and it’s apparently not just athletes she is interested in.
She shared a video earlier this week that showed her speaking to the camera appealing to viewers for a date, saying that she ‘gets goofy’ when she tries to flirt and that she is looking for a taller man who is ‘so nice’ and ‘strong enough to sweep me off my feet.’
Kirby is expected to be in action on February 11, with official training booked in for the day before.
